Tour Description
We pick you up or meet you at your Arenal, La Fortuna area hotel and drive 45 minutes to the other side of Arenal Volcano. We climb high in the mountains to reach the Arenal Observatory Lodge, which offers the best possible view of the Arenal Volcano and its stunning surroundings. Beside the volcano you can see lake Arenal, the mountains of Monteverde and the dense jungle at the foot of the Volcano.

From here we start our hike through lush gardens and the tropical forest. On our way we will pass Hanging Bridges and hike to a spectacular Waterfall. At the Waterfall you can go for a swim and cool off. Along the hike, your experienced guide will give you details about the plants, trees and different animals that make this delicate Costa Rica Ecosystem home. During the journey, our guide will point out Costa Rica wildlife including howler or spider monkeys, pizotes, toucans and other native birds. As we exit the forest we will stop at the Scientific Observatory from which they monitor Arenal’s Volcanic activity. Next to the Observatory is a small museum that has additional information about the history and activity of the Volcano and its surroundings.

Although the Arenal Volcano hasn’t spit out lava since October 2010, we can frequently witness impressive smoke formations escaping its crater. We board the van and head to the Hot Tabacon River. We offer courtesy beverages and water while you soak in Arenal’s “Natural Hot Springs” Tabacon River. After an hour relaxing in this natural Jacuzzi, we leave for your hotel.

Afternoon Tours also include the often spectacular sunset over lake Arenal, a Night Hike where we look for nocturnal animals and reptiles such as frogs and spiders, and enjoy complementary drinks at the “Natural Hot Springs”.
